In conjunction with ISSEEK: 2030, the Junior Individual Standard of ECO Environmental Knowledge (JISEEK) award has been created. The programme is designed for younger children to easily recognise, develop and build skills towards a continuous improvement culture. We believe that this programme will help children, within the school context and environment, develop future sustainable, positive environmental change.
The award programme has been designed as a simple vehicle of change to encourage a structured phased approach to facilitate and engage, empowered groups of children within education.
By creating opportunities for children to develop themselves linked to real environmental management global issues, it is envisioned that the success, continual development and experience gained, will become a vehicle for environmental awareness and future cultural change.
Each participant must choose the activities they wish to take part in for each section covering the three criteria of Biodiversity, Waste Reduction and Energy Conservation encompassing ECO individual development, ECO team development and ECO community development. This personal programme offers young people a structure to fulfil their passions and ambitions in a way that suits them.
It is envisioned that cultural development and positive environmental change will be the driving force behind the award programme. It is the vision that a logical educational development benefit can be established, fully lead by the student body.
JISEEK is designed as a foundation phase to encourage environmental awareness and create succession planning as younger children develop and grow through the education system. The higher level International Standard of ECO Environmental Knowledge (ISEEK) standard is available for all ages, however recommended for students of age 11 and above.
